This manuscript is an extension of Alcoholics’ Anonymous. It is an elaboration and expansion of the 12-Step philosophy. The many ingredients for successful living offer a path to increased spiritual awareness. Open 12 hosts everyone regardless of race, creed, religion, and lack of religion, or sexual orientation.

This workbook introduces full-circle awareness: spiritual, physical, mental, emotional and sexual well being. It is not a replacement for other 12-Step programs or literature. 

Open 12 goes farther than other 12-Step philosophies in its methods for freeing the individual from compulsions and obsessions. In this respect, it is unique among 12-Step philosophies. Earlier programs were pioneers and represent a definitive step forward for individuals and society. Initial efforts in any direction are often expanded and improved as time goes by, or changed, as individuals with new visions appear. This new vision is what Open 12 offers.

People already attending 12-Step meetings or other group studies may find our program helpful for expanding their awareness. Many people have found this manuscript helpful for invalidating the denial and illusions they were not aware of.

Having a basic familiarity with spiritual principles and concepts may help one better understand the primary issues. However, if you realize that you have unresolved issues about living life on life’s terms; we believe this book can help you learn how to begin your quest for a deeper understanding of spiritual knowledge. 

In the first ten Steps of this manuscript I use the term Higher Power. In the Eleventh Step it offers a nonobligatory opportunity for people to accept Jesus Christ as their Higher Power.
